To reduce lens aberrations and color fringing, the lens has been designed with one Extra-High Refractive index (E-HR) element and two high refractive index (HR) elements. All 13 lens elements are covered by Olympus's Zuiko Extra-Low Reflective Optical (ZERO) coating, adapted from the Olympus industry-leading line of precision microscopes, for improved contrast with virtual elimination of ghosts and flares. The superb splash and dust-proof lens offers up 1:1 reproduction ratio magnification and an internal focusing system that will not change the length of the lens which is extremely important when shooting macro photography.
