What to check before buying this used lens
This is a specification- and inventory-based buying assessment, not a hands-on optical test. It explains what the known focal range, mount and seller inventory can tell you, and what you should still verify directly with the seller.
Where it fits
The OM SYSTEM 12-40mm f/2.8 M.Zuiko Digital II ED PRO Lens Black is listed for the Micro Four Thirds system with a Micro Four Thirds mount. Its practical starting role is wide scenes, interiors and landscapes. The catalog records Micro Four Thirds sensor coverage; verify your camera model and any crop-mode implications.
Trade-offs that matter
Its 12–40mm zoom range offers framing flexibility, but compare its wide and long ends with the subjects you photograph most. The catalog lists a maximum aperture of f/2.8; check its behavior across the zoom range where relevant.
Used condition versus price
There are 2 KEH catalog offers to compare. A lower listed price does not establish better value when condition grades or included accessories differ. Inspect glass clarity, focus and zoom movement, mounting contacts, stabilization if applicable, and included caps or hood. Use the used-lens inspection checklist →
